VR comes to mental health and rehabilitation.

In a move that could revolutionize the lives of literally millions of people in need of, or waiting for, occupational or physical therapy, HVS Image has released a new VR system that can deliver effective therapy through Virtual Reality.

HVS 4D VR is designed to allow experts, both in science and practicing doctors and clinicians, to quickly develop their own therapeutic regimens which can be gamified and even taken home to allow more intensive, ongoing treatment than would be possible in the clinic. The systems are already in use at world leading centers like Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts and Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee and are now available to doctors everywhere.

Treatments can include stroke rehabilitation, Altzheimer’s, depression, anxiety, neuromotor rehabilitation and many other targets.

Patients can travel around realistic, stimulating environments by moving their bodies, using game controllers, special 2D treadmills or a range of inputs. They can be assessed or given treatment that can be designed especially by the doctor using a simple HVS scripting language. Treatment can be assessed numerically or by automated, detailed report generation.

Clinics and hospitals can have the devices in-house and patients can come in regularly for treatment or the treatment systems can be leased or loaned out to patients.
